House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said in a CBS radio interview Tuesday that Republicans were trying to “get away with murder” by not going far enough in their police reform bill.
Pelosi pointed out differences between the Senate GOP bill and the House bill, saying that the GOP bill didn’t go far enough in several areas.
“We’re saying ‘no chokeholds.’ They’re not saying, ‘no chokeholds,’” Pelosi said. “I mean, there’s a big difference.”
“For something to happen, they’re going to have to face the realities of police brutality, and the reality of the need for justice in policing, and the recognition that there are many, many good people in law enforcement, but not all, and that we have to address those concerns,” Pelosi continued.
“So far, they were trying to get away with murder, actually. The murder of George Floyd,” she concluded. At this point, I’m not sure who is less “all there,” mentally, Pelosi or Joe Biden.
