The Scottish government said it would stop releasing information on COVID deaths and hospitalizations by vaccination status because it believed anti-vaxxers were misusing the data.
“What is happening is people are looking at those simple data and trying to make inferences about the vaccination, whether the vaccines work, inappropriately and sometimes wilfully,” a Public Health Scotland (PHS) official said.
“There are so many caveats and they just pull certain figures out that should not be used,” the official added.
While Boris Johnson has lifted many COVID restrictions from the UK, Scotland has kept in place mask requirements for schools and other restrictions due to its independence from England in many matters.
They will now be using modeling and other methods to compare vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals to make the benefits of vaccination more clear.
