The government is demanding entrance into the homes of millions of Americans. Monitoring to enforce compliance on COVID-related restrictions has gone way too far. This is terrifying.
Pennsylvania has a population of 12.8 million people and the state’s government has decided to require mask-wearing in some instances in private residences. It is absolutely unconscionable and unconstitutional.
According to the order, a mask must be worn “indoors or in an enclosed space, where another person or persons who are not members of the individual’s household are present in the same space, irrespective of physical distance.”
This directive was announced by Pennsylvania Health Secretary Rachel Levine, and it wasn’t the only order announced. More restrictive mask mandates were issued for outdoor events, restaurants, gyms, and even veterinary clinics.
As Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked on Twitter: “Pennsylvania is making people wear masks inside their homes. Ohio is making people be home by 10 p.m. Vermont won’t even let you have friends over. What’s next?”
Individual Americans and businesses — particularly those with the means to do so — should be filing lawsuits against state governments going beyond their constitutional authority. The precedence this has set is alarming.
