Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is adamant that vaccine passports will not become part of life after COVID-19.
“We’re not supportive of that. I think it’s something that people have certain freedoms and individual liberties to make decisions for themselves,” DeSantis said of the effort to let individuals show that they have been vaccinated in order to participate in certain activities.
It is “completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society,” he said.
DeSantis called on the legislature to take action to block the passports, but said he could also take executive action if needed.
It’s sad that states are increasingly feeling forced to oppose the federal government because of its imposition on people’s liberties.
