New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) is granting rock stars exemptions to the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine rule for travelers so that they can perform at the MTV Music Awards on August 30.
The state health department is calling it a “semi-exemption” because the stars will be allowed to participate in the production but must quarantine while not working.
The show is conducting testing and screenings during its time in New York City using a special compliance officer.
The show will be performed without an audience and will have various performance venues around the city.
Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, the Black Eyed Peas, and presidential candidate Kanye West are expected to perform.
