Republicans have struck back at President Biden over the revised infrastructure counter-proposal that he unveiled on Friday.
Fox News reported that “Based on today’s meeting, the groups seem further apart after two meetings with White House staff than they were after one meeting with President Biden.”
The statement was attributed to Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), John Barrasso (R-WY), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).
Biden’s revised proposal dropped the price tag down to $1.7 trillion, which is a far cry from the $568 billion plan that Republicans proposed. With Biden refusing to negotiate in person, bridging that gap is only getting more difficult.
The continued demands from Democrats that non-infrastructure items be included in the infrastructure plan has created a deadlock in Congress. Republicans will not budge on taxes, and Democrats refuse to give up their wish list of progressive items.
This latest incident is yet another demonstration of Biden’s failure to be a bipartisan leader working for the American people. Biden has an agenda and will not compromise to accomplish objectives that will benefit all Americans.
