Republicans scored a massive victory as GOP Governor Mark Gordon signed a bill that will protect infants who have survived abortion procedures.
It is common practice for infants that survive abortion procedures not to be given any medical attention, and medical staff will not attempt to preserve the infant’s life. This new bill will shut that practice down and provide a template for other states to follow.
The bill, titled “Born alive infant-means of care,” reads, “The commonly accepted means of care that would be rendered to any other infant born alive shall be employed in the treatment of any viable infant aborted alive. Any physician performing an abortion shall take medically appropriate and reasonable steps to preserve the life and health of an infant born alive.”
Nathan Winters, executive director of Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming, reacted to the news that Governor Gordon signed the bill saying, “With the resounding support of the Wyoming legislature and endorsement of the Governor, Wyoming has taken the important step of protecting these vulnerable citizens taking their first breath of Wyoming air.”
Even with the nation’s Capitol in the hands of Democrats, Republicans are busy scoring victory after victory.
Bills like the one signed by Governor Gordon are needed nationwide to end the barbaric practices that have been allowed to proliferate for too long. Democrats will fight tooth and nail against any measure that will protect babies who survive abortion, which is why Republicans must fight even harder.
