House Republican Study Committee Chairman Representative Jim Banks (R-IN) predicted that Republicans will experience a “wave” of support similar to the 2010 midterm elections that saw them take power.
Top Republicans and former President Donald Trump recently met to plan the future of the Republican Party, and the 2022 midterms are a huge part of any plans they may have made.
Success in 2022 is paramount if Republicans are going to stop President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda. If predictions come true, 2022 could be a bloodbath that will make 2010 look reasonable by comparison.
After the meeting with Trump, Representative Banks said, “The Republican Party is the party of the working class because of the agenda that Donald Trump ran on and fought for four years. He won over millions of working-class voters who didn’t identify themselves as Republicans before, who are now in the Republican Party.”
Republicans have mostly purged the anti-Trump elements from the Republican Party; now all they have to do is prepare. The midterm elections tend to favor the party that is out of power.
With Trump’s agenda and the support of his voters, Republicans should have little trouble taking the House and the Senate.
