Trump-backed Georgia Republican Senate candidate and former NFL star Herschel Walker raised $5.5 million during the first quarter of 2022 in his bid to unseat Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock in the midterm elections.
Walker got more than 50,000 individual contributions from all 50 states, and his haul was just slightly more than the $5.4 million he raised in the last quarter of 2021.
His total was one of the highest of any Republican candidate, but less than half of Warnock’s $13.6 million total during the quarter.
Warnock came into office during a January 2021 special election after Johnny Isakson stepped down in 2019 for health reasons.
Walker is counting on a Republican wave to sweep him past Warnock in November.
