Fox News Contributor and former congressman Trey Gowdy blasted Democrats for saying that Attorney General William Barr should resign for directing the Justice Department to shorten the sentence of President Donald Trump associate Roger Stone, who was convicted of lying to investigators during the Mueller investigation.
Gowdy noted that the judge in the case would make the final decision on sentencing, and that it was an enhancement for threatening a witness that resulted in the seven to nine year sentencing recommendation by prosecutors in the case.
It was “ridiculous” for a congressman to think that Barr shouldn’t weign in on the sentence and that he should resign for doing so, Gowdy continued.
“There are child pornographers who don’t get nine years,” Gowdy said. “There are bank robbers who don’t get nine years.”
