A former high-ranking advisor to President Donald Trump has recommended a full shutdown. He just said it on national television and now everyone wants to know what will happen next. This is stunning.
Steve Bannon, Trump’s former strategist, said on Fox News that we shouldn’t mess around with flattening the COVID-19 curve. “Shatter the curve and go full hammer on the virus right now with a full shutdown,” he said.
In order to accomplish this feat, he said that “it may take $2 trillion, it may take $3 trillion — to force cash into the little entrepreneur and to the little guy” while Americans weather the economic turbulence.
However, Trump hasn’t signaled that he intends on listening to Bannon’s unsolicited advice. On the subject of a nationwide shutdown, he recently said, “I don’t think we’ll ever find that necessary.”
Regardless of any decisions going forward, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams issued a notice this week about the coronavirus and what to expect in the coming days. We must remain vigilant and united.
“I want America to understand this week, it’s going to get bad,” said Adams on the ‘TODAY’ show. He said the main contributor to the virus spreading is people refusing to take it seriously and heed medical advice.
