Fox News has reversed a false House race projection after eight days in an attempt to placate a furious base.
Fox New’s election night coverage was a disaster by every metric and may have destroyed any trust their base of conservative watchers may have had left. Fox viewers have grown increasingly disillusioned with the network as it moves farther left.
On election night, Fox News projected that “Democrats will retain control of the House of Representatives and expand their majority by at least five seats. That’s a major boost for Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has pledged to roll back much of President Trump’s first term agenda if he loses reelection. … There have been projections that Democrats could pick up as many as fifteen seats.”
These projections were hilariously inaccurate, and Fox News was wrong on almost every call. Democrats lost seats in the House, making Pelosi’s goal of undoing President Trump’s achievements much more difficult.
Pelosi herself may actually lose her position in leadership because of how poorly Democrats performed in the election. And yet Fox News predicted major victories for Democrats on election night.
Fox News has been running damage control ever since election night, but it may be too little too late. Conservatives will remember what happened that night and will not forgive easily.
