Fox News host Tucker Carlson hit back Monday at critics who claimed his comments about President Joe Biden’s lackluster Russia-Ukraine policy were “treason.”
Former Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe and Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) both criticized Carlson for his comments and for having sought to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin on his show.
“We can have any opinion we feel like having, that is not treason. It is not un-American. It’s the whole point of America. It is our Bill of Rights distilled,” Carlson reminded them, noting that NBC News interviewed Putin and no one called that outlet treasonous or “un-American.”
Carlson argued that it is not in America’s interest to support Ukraine because it is “not even a democracy,” and that Biden’s foreign policy amounted to “self-harm.”
Carlson said he would like to interview Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Cicilline about the whole debacle. “An interview is hardly an endorsement,” he said.
