Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) took the occasion of a bill signing to comment on the unfairness and bias of current social media censorship practices against U.S. conservatives.
“When you deplatform the President of the United States but you let Ayatollah Khamenei talk about killing Jews, that is wrong,” he said to loud cheers at a press conference about the signing of a tech censorship bill in Florida.
The bill allows Floridians to sue Big Tech companies for monetary damages.
The media tried to make it all about former President Donald Trump, who was deplatformed by most major social media companies after some of his apparent supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and caused damage there on January 6.
DeSantis pushed back on the idea that the law was all about Trump, saying, “The bill is for everyday Floridians is what we said.”
