Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) said that he is willing to get the coronavirus vaccine, but doesn’t want to get it before the 4 million senior citizens in his state.
“I’m willing to take it, but I am not the priority. They’re the priority,” he said.
“I’m under 45, and so the people under 45 are not going to be first in line for this. And so when it’s my turn, I will take it but this is who I want to be vaccinated,” he continued.
His attitude is in contrast to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who at 31 took the vaccine ahead of seniors and frontline workers.
Other members of the “squad” agreed with DeSantis, however; Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) called it “shameful” for people of “importance” to get the vaccine before “people who need it most.”
