Dr. Anthony Fauci just addressed the elephant in the room by pointing out massive protests could lead to a resurgence in coronavirus cases.
Fauci said in an interview with WTOP on Friday that, “What runs through my mind is what does every time I hear about or see the congregation of large crowds at a time and in an area — a geographic area where clearly there is active infection transmission. It’s a perfect setup for further spread of the virus in the sense of creating these blips, which might turn into some surges.”
For months Americans have been under lockdowns and we were told to continue social distancing. That is, until the death of George Floyd.
When protests broke out over the death of Floyd it was almost as if coronavirus ceased to exist as least in the mainstream media. The massive crowds that have marched have left many confused as to why the government isn’t acting to disperse the crowds.
To further add to the questions people have, protests to end lockdowns were castigated by both the government and the media.
It’s good to see Fauci finally draw attention to what is happening. Either the lockdowns were a waste of time, or there will be a massive surge in coronavirus cases.
