Dr. Anthony Fauci warned that Americans should not “be accusatory” toward China about the origin of the coronavirus even though it has killed nearly 600,000 people in the U.S. and cost the economy $13 trillion.
“I mean, obviously, you want openness and cooperation,” he in an interview Thursday about determining the virus’s origin. “One of the ways you can get it is don’t be accusatory.”
“I think the accusatory part about it is only going to get them to pull back even more,” he said.
Fauci has admitted that NIH funded the Wuhan lab where the virus likely originated, but denies that gain of function research reportedly performed there was funded by the NIH.
Former President Donald Trump said that China should pay the U.S. $10 trillion in reparations for originating the virus and for covering up the threat it posed early on in the pandemic.
