Ex-Facebook employees have joined the chorus of other Mark Zuckerberg critics calling on the social media platform to censor President Donald Trump for comments they think violate Facebook’s standards.
“Facebook isn’t neutral, and it never has been,” a group of 33 former employees said in an open letter, while describing its policies as “incoherent” and “cowardly.”
Current employees within Facebook thought the plaform should have joined Twitter in censoring Trump’s retweet of the quote “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”
Zuckerberg decided not to censor it, although he said he personally found it “deeply offensive.” Ultimately, he decided that it was not an “incitement to violence.”
“Facebook should be holding politicians to a higher standard than their constituents,” the letter declared.
