Officials and others in Pennsylvania are calling for state Attorney General Josh Shapiro to step down over what they are calling election interference.
Shapiro declared that President Donald Trump would not win Pennsylvania, then told people with voting irregularities to contact the PA Democrat Voter Assistance Hotline rather than a nonpartisan organization.
Pennsylvania GOP Attorney General candidate Heather Heidelbaugh, Shapiro’s opponent, said he should “step aside” from anything having to do with the election since he is a candidate in it.
“Shapiro cannot be seen as having his thumb on the scale, acting in the dual roles of legal arbiter of the vote and a candidate deeply invested in its outcome,” she said in a statement.
“The outcome of these elections in Pennsylvania must not be muddled with this glaring conflict of interest,” she added.
