Two individuals were arrested for stealing packages from homes while passing out election fliers for Democrat Senate candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Osoff in the January 5th Georgia runoff election.
Santina Walker, 19, and Cesar Guerrero, 19, were arrested after confessing to stealing packages. The campaigns for Democrat candidates Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff moved to distance themselves quickly from the Democrat-loving porch pirates.
Spokespeople Terrence Clark and Miryam Lipper issued a statement saying, “These individuals are not associated with or paid by our campaigns, and we strongly condemn this criminal activity.”
This theft by election workers is a new evolution in the ongoing “porch pirate” problem plaguing the holiday season.
The fact that this theft occurred leading up to a hotly contested election will certainly generate more bad blood between Democrats and Republicans.
The Georgia Senate runoff races will determine control of the Senate, and Democrats hope to win both seats to split the Senate 50-50. With Vice President Kamala Harris acting as the tie-breaking vote, a 50-50 split will hand Democrats control of both chambers of Congress.
