A GOP lawmaker in Connecticut was finally declared the winner in his state House race after thinking since Election Day that he had lost his seat to his Democrat challenger.
Rep. Craig Fishbein (R) was awarded the seat after a clerical error was discovered. Votes from one polling place were not recorded at the time, so it looked like Fishbein lost the race.
A recount will be done in the race since it was so close–the two candidates are only separated by .5% of the vote.
It is a mystery how the candidates didn’t know the original results were wrong, since they rely on data obtained by the polls themselves and not the election results website.
The win will not make much difference in the state legislature of Connecticut, since Democrats dominate most governmental positions there.
