Election numbers just stunned the nation. No matter how you look at it, this is bad news for Democrats — they never saw it coming. This is amazing.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) led Republicans to nearly retaking the House of Representatives in November, coming just a small handful of seats short. He made the reason why abundantly clear.
“Two months ago today, the American people said enough,” said McCarthy. “Enough with politicians who dictate what you can say, where you can eat, and whether you can go to church.”
He continued: “Enough with politicians who ignore the stay-at-home lockdowns they impose on the rest of us. Enough with the arrogance and the hypocrisy. Americans are fed up with it and we Republicans are too.”
McCarthy is right, of course — Pelosi got dangerously close to losing the Speaker’s chair altogether and now Republicans are in a prime position to take the House in 2022. The numbers don’t lie.
Currently, there are 222 Democrats and 211 Republicans in the House, with two vacancies yet to be determined. Pelosi is going to find that her slim 10-member majority will force her to actually compromise.
