Breitbart’s Shawn Steel contends in a new op-ed that Mark “Zuckerbucks” Zuckerberg corrupted the 2020 presidential election by giving $419.5 million to “bankroll get-out-the-vote campaigns” while claiming it was to help local communities prepare for the election in the middle of COVID-19.
“The bulk of the Zuckerberg money – $350 million – was channeled to the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL),” Steel noted. “According to CTCL’s own report, election officials spent the funds on “social media and advertising” and allowed government officials to “purchase thousands of dollars in billboards, television commercials, radio, etc.”
Another group, the Center for Election Innovation and Research, got $69.5 million and targeted swing states like Pennsylvania and Georgia more than less competitive states, a move that doesn’t make sense if the information it provided was really “nonpartisan.”
There is no public accounting for how the money was actually spent, Steel says.
Steel quoted Nicholas Horton, research director for the Foundation for Government Accountability, as saying, “Government should be a neutral, fair arbiter of the election process, and the public should have no doubts and full confidence in that process when going to vote in the polls.”
