Republicans in the Michigan legislature were unhappy to learn on Friday that the state’s Board of Elections ordered county election clerks to delete data related to the election from government computers.
The BOE is under the direction of Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D), and sent a memo that the information should be deleted immediately because there was no pending recount and the results had been certified by the state.
Only problem is, Michigan legislators had sent an order for election data to be preserved because of a November 6 directive indicating a planned investigation into the election.
How could anyone look at this action to delete election data as anything but an attempt to hide impropriety?
It seems like a re-vote is the only real solution to this mess.
