Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Sunday on MSNBC that he thinks President Donald Trump should drop out of the 2020 race because of his positive coronavirus test.
“The truth of the matter is he’s very sick,” Scaramucci said. “He’s not going to make it to the debate. Anyone who looks at this situation knows that. So it will be interesting as to what the campaign will do as a contingency plan given the fact the president is not going to make the debate next week.”
Scaramucci speculated that “brain fog” or “lung damage” could make it hard for Trump to do a good job at the second presidential debate with Democrat nominee Joe Biden, but there is no evidence that the president has suffered from either brain fog or lung damage during his bout with the coronavirus.
“If he really loved the country, he would drop out,” Scaramucci continued. “But if he’s not going to do that and he gets some level of recovery in his mid-70s suffering from Covid-19 with all the co-morbidities, I hope the people give a landslide election to Joe Biden and we can get rid of him overall as president.”
That’s a nice bit of wishful thinking on Scaramucci’s part. Can’t wait to see a revitalized Trump wipe the floor with Biden next week.
