Dr. Anthony Fauci did not like the new President Donald Trump campaign ad that featured him saying in essence that no one else could have done more than Trump to combat the coronavirus.
Fauci said Trump was taking his comment out of context, and he also doesn’t want the ad to be construed as an endorsement of Trump on his part.
“It’s so clear I’m not a political person,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “I have never either directly or directly endorsed a candidate. And to take a completely out of context statement and put it in which is obviously a political campaign ad, I thought was really very disappointing.”
Fauci was distressed to hear that Trump might be planning to feature him in another ad that has not yet been released.
“That might actually come to backfire on them,” Fauci said. “I hope they don’t do that. That would be kind of playing a game that we don’t want to play. I hope they reconsider that if, in fact, they are indeed considering doing that.”
