Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) nailed Dr. Fauci down for his changing views on the origin of the coronavirus and the pandemic that affected the globe.
Dr. Fauci recently admitted that the coronavirus could have been created in a lab after nearly a year of dismissing such ideas. Many figures from the very start of the pandemic speculated that coronavirus was a lab creation, but they were demonized and labeled conspiracy theorists.
Senator Johnson sent a letter to Fauci on Thursday saying, “Your high level of confidence in rejecting a potential laboratory origin in May 2020 is perplexing, given that public reports highlighted safety concerns at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). Specifically, on April 14, 2020, the Washington Post published an article about information contained in two 2018 State Department cables where U.S. diplomats expressed concerns about the safety of the Wuhan laboratory.”
Fauci had access to information that was years old that suggested the laboratory in Wuhan was a risk. Yet in May 2020, Fauci said, “If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats, and what’s out there now is very, very strongly leaning toward this [virus] could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated.”
The mere proximity of the lab in Wuhan to the origin of the pandemic is evidence enough that the lab leak theory had merit. Now that we know what Fauci knew last year, his credibility and motives are even more in question.
Dr. Fauci knew that the Wuhan lab was a problem and yet dismissed the lab leak theory as a conspiracy theory and assured Americans that the coronavirus was natural. Dr. Fauci must be brought in front of Congress and tell them everything.
