Assistant HHS Health Secretary Adm. Brett Giroir disagreed with recommendations made by his colleague on the White House Coronavirus Task Force Dr. Anthony Fauci Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, saying that Fauci looks at the coronavirus from a “very narrow public health” perspective.
“I respect Dr. Fauci a lot, but Dr. Fauci is not 100% right, and he also doesn’t necessarily, he admits that, have the whole national interest in mind,” Giroir said.
The comments were made in response to reports in the Washington Post Saturday that Fauci had pushed for lockdowns to resume in several parts of the country where cases were spiking.
Giroir insisted that there was open discussion on the task force and that everyone was encouraged to speak their minds.
He insisted that decisions about how to handle the pandemic were being made according to science.
