Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Richard Cheney pardoned by former President Trump, is planning to attend a fundraiser for Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY).
Libby was convicted in 2007 for obstruction of justice and was accused of leaking the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson.
Former President George W. Bush commuted his sentence as Libby’s conviction was widely seen as unjust. However, it wasn’t until 2018 when Trump stood up for Libby and issued a formal pardon.
Of course, no good deed goes unpunished and Libby is now campaigning alongside former Vice President Dick Cheney to protect Representative Liz Cheney from the wrath of Republican voters.
Representative Cheney sided with Democrats against Trump over the January 6th protest and has since abandoned the Republican Party.
Libby stabbing Trump in the back has only shown him to be an untrustworthy actor, and his support of Cheney will do little to endear voters to the embattled Representative.
