Former President Donald Trump reacted to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, saying that the decision “[answered]to the prayers of millions and millions of people,” during a rally in Mendon, Illinois.
Trump began the rally on Saturday night by praising the Supreme Court’s decision, a decision that ended the constitutional protections for abortion rights.
Trump told the jubilant crowd, “So before we begin, we’ve got some very big news. Don’t we? We have very big news. Maybe the biggest, right from the United States Supreme Court. Yesterday the Court handed down a victory for the Constitution, a victory for the rule of law, and above all, a victory for life. This breakthrough is the answer to the prayers of millions and millions of people. And these prayers have gone on for decades and decades. They’ve been praying, and now those prayers have been answered.”
The reversal of Roe v. Wade represents answered prayers for millions, and it also stands as Trump’s greatest legacy from his time as the 45th President of the United States.
Trump ran on a promise that he would nominate individuals to the Supreme Court that were pro-life and that would right the wrongs of Roe v. Wade.
Now that that has happened, Trump is taking a victory lap. Trump now owns the most significant accomplishment of any Republican in the 21st century, and that will hold a lot of weight going into the 2024 presidential election.
