The first night of the Republican National Convention was a ratings winner for the party on C-SPAN’s livestream, garnering almost six times more views than the first night of the Democrat convention last week.
Day one of the RNC had 440,000 views, while day one of the DNC only had around 76,000.
The higher C-SPAN ratings could be at least partly because Amazon didn’t offer an RNC stream, even though it did stream all four nights of the DNC last week.
In addition, TV networks including Fox News repeatedly cut away from the coverage or interrupted it with commentary, which might have annoyed viewers.
Between 18 and 21.8 million viewers watched the DNC convention on television last week.
