President Donald Trump just got a major win and the nation is in shock. Millions of people can’t believe this happened at the very last minute.
After signing the second COVID-19 relief bill, Trump said that he would “send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress” to remove certain items.
Trump cited the Impoundment Control Act of 1974, which allows the president to “transmit to both Houses of Congress a special message” upon determining “that all or part” of the budget provided won’t be necessary.
Therefore, in this particular case, Congress could be forced to explain why the coronavirus bill is chockful of items unrelated to virus relief — including billions of dollars in foreign aid and
Trump also asked for the stimulus payments to Americans to be increased from $600 to $2,000. It will be interesting to see what Congress decides, given the controversy surrounding the bill in the first place.
Lastly, he announced that Congress has announced that “Section 230, which so unfairly benefits Big Tech at the expense of the American people, will be reviewed and either be terminated or substantially reformed.”
