President Donald Trump left the White House for Mar-A-Lago, Florida on Wednesday, and he had a crowd of well-wishers waiting to welcome him home when he got there.
His timing made Trump the first president to miss his successor’s inauguration since 1869 when Andrew Jackson skipped Ulysses Grant’s swearing-in due to having been impeached.
The Mar-a-Lago supporters lined the streets from the airport to Trump’s resort and held signs that said “We love you, Trump” and “Pres Trump Won.”
“We want to show him he’s not alone,” Daniel Rakus, 65, of Palm Beach, said. “He did a great job. We support him.’”
Trump said he would “be back in some form” as he left Washington, D.C.
