Former president Donald J. Trump has been consistent that the Republican Party needs him to win in the next few elections.
It turns out, he’s not alone in that sentiment.
“I would just say to my Republican colleagues: Can we move forward without President Trump? The answer is no,” said Senator Lindsey Graham during a recent appearance on Fox News.
Graham spoke to the issue of deciding to side with Liz Cheney or Trump. “I’ve always liked Liz Cheney, but she’s made a determination that the Republican Party can’t grow with President Trump,” said Graham. “I’ve determined we can’t grow without him.”
Graham concluded that the party principles are better under Trump’s interpretation than the Cheney model. “The reason our party is growing with minorities and with working men and women is because President Trump appears to be on the side of people working really hard, appears to be on the side of opportunity, not dependency, because he is,” said Graham.
