Former President Donald Trump called Democrats out for trying to pin the blame for the “Defund the police” movement on Republicans.
During his rally in Sarasota, Florida, Trump said, “So now they [Democrats] are getting killed by defund police, which they are doing by the way. But they are getting absolutely killed.”
Defunding the police is a legislative position that a huge majority of Americans are opposed to. The only people supporting defunding the police are the radicals in the Democrat Party.
Democrats like Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) spent the better part of last year demanding that police be defunded nationwide. Now that the electoral consequences have hit Democrats, they are attempting to blame Republicans.
Trump continued saying, “Now they are saying ‘it was the Republicans’ fault.’ It’s disinformation. They say it again and again and again, and after months and months of hearing, people begin to believe the Democrats’ claim.”
Republicans need to hold Democrats accountable in the 2022 midterms. Democrats pushed defunding the police, and that led to a soaring crime rate. Now they are running scared and trying to blame Republicans, which cannot be allowed.
