The news just dropped with an election stunner about former President Donald Trump. His millions of supporters across the country are cheering.
“Senator Lisa Murkowski said she is ‘still weighing whether she will run again’ for the Senate in Alaska,” said Trump. “In other words, there is a chance that she won’t run! Wouldn’t that be great?”
He also said that this possibility was “great news for the Republican Party!” Trump couldn’t be more right — Murkowski has cared more about being a DC insider than representing her state.
Alaska went to Trump in 2020 and 2016, but Murkowski apparently never got the memo. Instead, she spent time fighting him on important policy initiatives and even voted to impeach him.
Murkowski’s only announced Republican challenger so far, Kelly Tshibaka, is doing well in early polls against the career politician. Many are now expecting Tshibaka to win.
This is why Murkowski recently told reporters that she hadn’t decided on whether he would run for re-election in 2022, saying that she was “preserving my options” for the future.
