Former President Donald Trump told Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) that he should run for leader of the Senate to replace current Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) next year.
Scott, who is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), did not exactly shoot Trump down for his comment.
“We have to focus on winning” the Senate back, Scott reportedly replied. “My only focus is on winning.”
Scott is more conservative than McConnell, but is being careful not to openly challenge him yet.
He has put out his own 11-point vision to put into action if Republicans take over the Senate majority, including addressing inflation, the border, debt, Afghanistan, schools, and crime.
