Days before leaving office, President Donald Trump said in an official proclamation to make January 22, 2021 National Sanctity of Human Life Day that landmark abortion legalization case Roe v. Wade is “constitutionally flawed.”
“This month, we mark nearly 50 years since the United States Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision,” Trump said during the proclamation. “This constitutionally flawed ruling overturned State laws that banned abortion, and has resulted in the loss of more than 50 million innocent lives.”
Trump claimed that more Americans are supporting pro-life stances and restrictions on abortion, and he reinforced the value of life in the speech.
“Every human life is a gift to the world,” Trump stated.
More than 50 million abortions have been performed in the U.S. since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973.
