Former President Donald Trump dropped the hammer on so-called “sellout” Republicans and called on conservatives to primary weak Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections.
Trump issued a statement on Saturday that said, “Any interest from good and SMART America First Republican Patriots to run primary campaigns against Representatives Tom Rice, John Katko, Don Bacon, Don Young, Fred Upton (challenge accepted), Andrew Garbarino, Peter Meijer (challenge accepted), David McKinley (challenge accepted), Nancy Mace, Jaime Herrera Beutler (challenge accepted) and Chris Smith? You will have my backing! Gonzalez, Kinzinger, and Reed already QUIT, they are out of politics, hopefully for good.”
Republicans don’t just have to focus on beating Democrats in next year’s midterm elections. Republicans also need to take out the trash and get rid of those who would undermine the America First agenda.
Trump singled out Republicans who voted to support President Joe Biden’s trillion-dollar infrastructure bill.
One of those Republicans, Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), has already announced that he is retiring from politics as it became clear he had no future with Republicans.
Getting Kinzinger into early retirement is just the first of many steps that true conservatives need to take. A message must be sent loud and clear to those who would work with Democrats and help pass their destructive agenda.
