Former President Donald Trump discussed the fight against “socialism” and “communism” in the United States during a surprise address to CPAC Hungary on Friday.
Trump also praised Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, one of his strongest allies in Europe, during the speech.
Hungary is well aware of the dangers of authoritarian ideologies like socialism, and as such, Hungary is a remarkably conservative country.
In a video address to the conference, Trump said, “We’re looking to stop a lot of the problems that are going on in the world — including in the United States — socialism and even communism if you look at it really deeply. Just keep up the good work, keep up the fight. and I’ll see you soon.”
Other major figures that spoke at CPAC Hungary were Brexit leader Nigel Farage and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Trump’s decision to appear at CPAC Hungary could very well be a prelude to more significant appearances, especially as the midterm elections close in. Trump will very likely be a key part of mobilizing and enthusing Republican voters to get out and remove Democrats from power.
