Former President Donald Trump is laying the groundwork for taking over the Republican party as he is screening candidates seeking his endorsement in the 2022 midterms.
Trump is vetting candidates who will push the “America First” agenda, and he wants a MAGA candidate in every open Republican seat. Trump is making it clear; establishment Republicans will not be safe in the midterms.
Trump is going to begin meeting with dozens of prospective candidates who are vying for his support as Republicans prepare for the midterms.
Senior Trump adviser Jason Miller said, “We are in the process of putting together a more formal schedule for candidates who want to come get his endorsement.”
Trump’s plans are raising alarms in the ruling echelons of the Republican party. Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) went on Fox News and responded to the reports on Trump by saying, “I don’t want to eat our own.”
Unfortunately, not “eating our own” has allowed for a business-as-usual attitude to take hold in the Republican party. Establishment Republicans need to feel threatened, and Trump is just the man for the job.
