Ranking Republican of the House Intelligence Devin Nunes (CA) told Breitbart News that he plans to sue CNN and the Daily Beast for printing false stories involving him.
Both news outlets printed stories saying that Nunes got help from Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas, who is now indicted on unrelated charges, in looking into whether Ukraine interfered in the 2016 presidential election.
The Daily Beast story said that Parnas helped Nunes set up meetings on the matters, and CNN said that Nunes had a secret meeting in Vienna with Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor Biden bragged about getting fired while he was vice president.
“These demonstrably false and scandalous stories published by the Daily Beast and CNN are the perfect example of defamation and reckless disregard for the truth,” Nunes said. “I intend to hold the Daily Beast and CNN accountable for their actions. They will find themselves in court soon after Thanksgiving.”
Nunes also said in a tweet that his office gave CNN a statement that read, “CNN’s slavish adherence to the Democrats’ comical talking points is an amazing sight to behold,” but that they didn’t use the statement in any of their reporting.
