The Democrat party has endured its second massive defeat since the 2020 elections concluded, and they settled into their position of power in the Legislative branch.
After failing to convict former President Trump on charges of inciting a riot, Democrats have now failed to force through a $15 minimum wage hike. The failure of the wage hike has been humiliating for Speaker Pelosi and left the Democrat party splintered.
Seven Democrats and an independent Senator who caucused with Democrats joined Republicans in shooting down a measure introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) that would have raised the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Several Democrats lashed out at the party following the failure of the measure. Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) said, “It is despicable and unacceptable that there is not unanimous support among Democrats in Congress for a $15 minimum wage.”
Numerous other Democrat and leftist figures did not mince words when it came to ripping into those who voted against Senator Sander’s measure.
Democrats hold the legislative branch and the Presidency, yet they cannot pass core pieces of their agenda. Time is ticking as the 2022 midterms are drawing closer and the immense power Democrats hold slips away.
