Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) just unleashed his plan on national television. President Donald Trump is smiling — this needs to happen now.
“I have a bill that allows us to change the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and allow private actors here in the United States to sue China for damages from coronavirus,” announced Crenshaw on Fox News.
He continued: “Frankly, I also support another one that does the same thing for cybersecurity attacks on U.S. domestic infrastructure. […] These are the kind of tools that we have to put in our toolkit here and hold China accountable.”
From the beginning, Trump and conservative members of Congress have been abundantly clear about who is responsible for spreading the COVID-19 virus worldwide: China. It is time to take action.
The Chinese government has yet to come clean about the origins of the virus or take any kind of responsibility whatsoever — even as the death toll climbs and many economies remain crippled.
Every American adversely affected by this virus should be able to sue China for damages. Crenshaw’s bill should be passed by Congress without delay. Justice must be served.
