Dan Crenshaw has made the surprise announcement that he will NOT be attending the National Rifle Association’s convention.

The reason? His travels to Ukraine.

The Republican Representative from Texas let the NRA know on May 24 that he would be unable to attend the conference, where he was scheduled to speak.

According to his office, the reason is because Crenshaw “wouldn’t be back in time” from Ukraine to make his scheduled appearance at the convention.

His office is adamant that the decision has nothing to do with the optics of attending an event just days after 21 humans were slaughtered at a Texas elementary school.

Crenshaw, along with Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, became the first American lawmakers to visit the American embassy in Ukraine since Russia invaded.
