New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) is the highest-paid governor in the country, earning a salary this year of $225,000.
His salary was scheduled to increase to $250,000 this year, but he deferred the raise. He is currently under investigation to see whether he used resources of the office to work on his book about the coronavirus response he led in the state.
He is also under investigation for multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, mostly with staffers, and will likely face serious challenges in getting re-elected in 2022, if he doesn’t resign sooner.
He has insisted that he is innocent of all allegations against him and has steadfastly refused to resign.
Gavin Newsom of California comes in second among governors with a salary of $202,000.
