New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s reputation is collapsing as both Republicans and Democrats are now calling for independent investigations into his policies handling the coronavirus pandemic.
The horrific spread of coronavirus in New York’s nursing homes may be partly attributable to Cuomo’s policies as new details emerge implicating the governor.
On March 25th Cuomo issued an executive order that stipulates, “[nursing homes] are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission.”
Now it seems over 5,300 people have died in New York’s nursing homes. This all came while Cuomo’s aides inserted legal protections for nursing homes in New York’s budget.
Those protections were approved on April 2nd and shielded nursing homes from any legal repercussions should they be accused of not protecting patients from coronavirus.
Now there is uproar in the state and state representatives are in open rebellion calling for an investigation into Cuomo’s actions. Cuomo may have had his national aspirations crushed – and that’s a good thing for America.
