Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) just said ‘yes’ and anti-Trump Democrats are stunned. They never expected Cruz to come forward, and now they are panicking over the impeachment trial.
Cruz announced that “additional witnesses are not necessary” in President Trump’s trial, however, if more witnesses are called forward, he has at least one person in mind: Hunter Biden.
“We have heard just the beginning of the serious evidence of corruption involving Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company that paid Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, a million dollars a year,” noted Cruz.
There is no telling yet whether the Senate will call upon additional witnesses, but Cruz and other Republicans who want to know more about the Biden-Burisma ties will be ready.
At this point, it appears more likely that the Senate will soon vote to acquit President Trump of all charges. Cruz noted that Trump’s opposition “haven’t come remotely close to meeting their burden of proof.”
It is also possible that Republicans may bring along at least a couple of Democrats. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Doug Jones (D-AL) are in tough re-election fights in pro-Trump states.
