A federal appeals court has sided with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and struck down the CDC’s No-Sail Orders.
In April, DeSantis announced he would be taking the CDC to court over their draconian restrictions crushing the cruise ship industry.
The legal battle has mostly swung in DeSantis’s favor, but it wasn’t until this latest decision that he could claim victory. On Friday, the Eleventh Circuit court reversed an earlier decision that kept the cruise industry on lockdown.
Following that decision, Governor DeSantis issued a statement saying, “I’m glad to see the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals reverse its prior decision and free the cruise lines from unlawful CDC mandates, which effectively mothballed the industry for more than a year.”
Governor DeSantis’s successful crusade against the CDC has further solidified his position as the heir-apparent to former President Trump.
Many conservatives and Republican strategists are expecting DeSantis to take a shot at the White House in 2024. With these victories under his belt, DeSantis will have an easy time bringing in Trump’s supporters.
