A high-level court just gave President Donald Trump’s campaign a huge election win. Democrats are absolutely furious, but there is nothing they can do about it. This is a stunning development.
“Big news!” tweeted Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “A Maine court sided with the RNC and upheld the: *Ban on ballot harvesting. *Voter ID requirements. *Election Day deadline. *Signature match requirements.”
“Clean sweep in a bogus Democrat lawsuit, and another victory in our fight to ProtectTheVote.com!” McDaniel concluding, tweeting out a website created by the RNC to track the fight for a fair election and get crucial updates to Trump supporters.
In short, an organization called the Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA) — clearly a front for the Democratic Party, not a sincere group fighting for retirees — brought a lawsuit claiming that Maine’s voter ID requirement was “unconstitutional.”
ARA specifically cited the COVID-19 pandemic as a connected reason. According to them, the voting requirements would be a “severe” imposition on ballot access and, therefore, they should be struck down.
Superior Court Justice William Stokes didn’t buy ARA’s argument, of course. He wrote that “the burdens on the right to vote imposed by the challenged provisions of Maine’s election laws are slight or moderate, and that the State’s interests outweigh any burdens.”
